People are used to saying, " Silence is gold. " Whenever is silence gold?  In fact, if you always keep silent, you will probably miss many golden opportunities.   

 I got to know a girl last week. She told me about her story, and the company where she had worked for over three years. She did not like to speak too much at anytime, for she believed that she just needed to do well in her job enough and everything should be going well.

She found her mind was wrong until she lost an opportunity when her company decided to send some people to Japan for further study and development.

She had not lodged an application, because she firmly belived than her boss would offer the chance to her. Yet finally, she failed to go.  " I was sorry, I forgot you at that time! " her boss explained later. She said if she originally had not kept silent, she would have gone to Japan. 

From the girl's experience, we know silence is NOT always gold. In this modern society, one needs to speak out his mind for his own interests.
